Great news! Indy Food Swap has a new home. After some uncertainty last month with the sad news that The Earth House Collective is closing, we officially have a new place to swap. Indianapolis City Market, here we come!

There really are no words to describe my appreciation to Stevi Stoesz, Executive Director of City Market. Stevi is a friend and supporter of our swap, and the short story is that she made this move possible.

So…. how about a round of applause for her enthusiasm, energy, and kindness??

(The crowd goes WILD!)

And it wasn’t just Stevi who rallied for our cause. I received emails and messages from people all over the city with encouraging words and ideas for alternative locations. Swappers brainstormed on Twitter and Facebook, where any number of posts started with ‘What-about-this-place?’ or ‘I-know-someone-who-knows-someone-who-could-help.’ Big Car Service Center and Homespun: Modern Handmade are just two of the local organizations that offered their space and support if we needed it.

You know what that feels like, friends? It feels like Community. With a capital C. And I couldn’t be more grateful. So thank you, thank you, thank you. A thousand times thank you.

And now, our next order of business… the October swap! It will be Saturday, October 13th, from 2:30 – 4:00pm at City Market. We will be swapping in the north end of the building, on the mezzanine level. Remember– tickets are free, but advance registration is required. Registration will open here on Tuesday, September 25th. There are a limited number of spaces available and the swaps usually fill up, so keep that in mind and mark your calendars.

There are lots of tables already on site for our use, and free parking is abundant in the Alabama Street parking lot, right next to the market. So, I hope you’ll pack up your swap goods, your appetite, and your sense of culinary adventure and join us. You’ll be glad you did, I promise.

As always, I remain in awe of your excitement and support. And, oh yes… YOUR FOOD!

See you at City Market, swappers!
