I had the pleasure of spending another fun morning with the gang at Indy Style this week. And since it’s that time of year, we had holiday gifts on the brain. But not just ANY holiday gifts… homemade, delicious holiday gifts. But the best part? SIMPLE was the word of the day.

We made three things that you can easily do in your own kitchen. I think giving the gift of homemade food is one of the best things you can do to show another person how much you appreciate them. And with each of these recipes, you get enough for several people. So, spend a little time in the kitchen, and have a lot to show for it. What could be easier?

What kind of food shenanigans were we up to? Take a look here for yourself. There are two video clips. In the first one,  Andi and I make pimento cheese & you’re-bacon-me-crazy nut mix. In clip number two, Andi, Tracy, and I make fruit leather (a.k.a. fruit roll-ups).

I’m excited to report that I’ll be making regular monthly appearances on Indy Style with Do-It-Yourself food ideas. Is there something you’d like to learn more about? Something you’ve been wanting to try at home but don’t know where to start? Send me an email with your thoughts… my ears are open!

In the meantime, click the links below for recipes and detailed, step-by-step pictures for the nut mix, fruit leather, and pimento cheese. You still have time to make these for friends, colleagues, teachers, neighbors, or anyone else on your list.

Wishing you and yours the happiest of holidays! Looking forward to sharing many more food adventures with you in 2013!
